Her real name is Iris. Appearance doesn't matter, so I'm not gonna describe it. She lives in Brooklyn, working as a witch. Smoke and mirrors, you know fake magic tricks. Safe to say, she made the rent good. 23 years old and a spot in the hood. She had the condo, the view, and the kitchen sink. She had a drug-free body, didn't even drink. And she had a sister, who wouldn't stop giving her shit for dropping out of art school to be an artist. She knew better, she did it anyway. Life isn't fun without mistakes, and that's safe to say.

So here's Iris, stealing time from the devil, trying to make life in Brooklyn something special.

quelqu'un m'a dit

by Rachel Lynch in

dit1 dit2 dit3 dit4 dit5 dit6 dit7 dit8 dit9 dit10 dit12 dit13 dit14 dit15 dit16I'm told that our lives aren't worth much. They pass like an instant, like wilting roses. Time is slipping and I'm filled with it's memories. I see the new day come at me like rain. It arrives in all it's natural glory, whether you insist on it or not. Some days, I just don't think I'm ready. I close my eyes back into the pillow, eyelashes blinking in the small amount of darkness left in the room. I want to stay here all day. Safe in my little world of garments and novels. Salinger and Hemingway will be my guide to life. Why believe there is anything outside of their created worlds?

Some days I forever imagine myself as Franny, Salinger's slipping dreamer, beaten down by life and tired of everyone trying so hard. For me, it was always all about being a character anyway. I am Brigitte Bardot meets Edie Sedgwick meets Sailor Moon. But perhaps, those are just girls who wanted to be characters too.

Si, Quelqu'un m'a dit?

I decided to pull three looks from their online store to post on my blog. The first is an awesome matching pantsuit (super Hil Clinton Vibes) (Bless). I love the way the jacket is super long and the pants are fitted and short. It's a cool contrast. The second dress is like my new all time fav. I mean, I feel like a NASCAR barbie. Not to mention the dope leather jacket I pulled to style with it. The last dress is kind of magical. I felt like a unicorn trappin on the block in it.

The moral of this post is LASULA is dope, and you should cop some goods. Amen.

Prayer in C

by Rachel Lynch in

c2c3c9c10c1c5c6c7c8c12c13"You never said a word. You didn't send me no letter. Don't think I could forgive you."

I dare you to be alone. I dare you to spend an hour getting to know yourself. I dare you to get to a level where people you don't like, don't even bother you anymore.

Be around people that dream like you. Your dream will push you when you can't push yourself. What you are to be, you are becoming. We have to see ourselves there. If you quit now, no day will ever be your day. You cannot do anything without faith.

Fear does not hold me anymore.

You have to learn to let the past go, so you can grow.

My mornings are usually spent with a My Little Pony mug full of coffee or tea. I love working from my desk, writing in my inspiration notebook, and getting my blog post up for the day. I love sitting cross-legged in my big chair catching up on emails in stockings and some sort of big soft tee or sweater.

I also really enjoy afternoons at home, playing dress up, working on styling, or just reading a book. I'm usually reading 2-5 books at any given time. One is usually a classic work of fiction, one is about veganism/health/raw diets, and the other is usually about spirituality, such as the Tao, the Bible or the work of some Christian philosopher.

Especially living in a big place like New York City, where things are constantly happening, it's really important to take down time at home for yourself.

One of my favorite Christian philosophers, Blaise Pascal, once said that "All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone." I believe it's so important to take time to be alone with our thoughts, getting to know ourselves, and simply just being. There is so much value that comes from just sitting with yourself alone. I feel like I've really been able to discover who I am, who I want to be, and where I intend to go, purely by spending time alone.

Anyways, the point of this blog post is to show you my new favorite cozy at home clothing line, Wear Luna. It just happens to be owned by a friend that I very much look up to, Audrey Kitching. I think the pieces are so soft and perfect for wearing to yoga, shopping, coffee runs, or just simply sitting at home relaxing!

I hope you all have an awesome weekend, much love.

Bad blonde girl on a big motorcycle. Thick black lashes and cherry bomb lips. Speeding through Soho in biker gloves and knee high boots. This is fall in New York. Where all the English rocker girls come out to play in Manhattan. Speeding over the bridge from Brooklyn in their leather jackets, they're ready for Lower East Side bars and the Rolling Stones on repeat.

When Rimmel London asked me to create a look inspired by their most recent mascara, Rockin Curves, I knew it was going to be easy as pie. The vibe of their new mascara is inspired by Rock & Roll. Growing up on the Rolling Stones in leather jackets and my Catholic School uniform plaid skirt, I'm no stranger to this concept. I wanted to make some sort of underground London Rock scene look that incorporated beauty. And what better way to do that then applying the new mascara on the back of a bike in thigh-high boots in the middle of Soho?

The new Rockin' Curves Mascara features Rimmel's first broken heart-shaped brush that creates a fringe of big, curvy, rockin' lashes. The applicator is really cool looking and is good at getting hard-to-reach inner lashes!

So come on, take a free ride, and pump up your lashes with me! It's perfect for completing all your dark fall looks.

A light spirit, and a girl very much filled with darkness. Left strung between two paradises, eden and the serpent, she danced in the shadows. If it's what we think and what we do that make us who we are, then she was two.

With all the love and light that surrounded her, how could she not dress in color? And with all the lovers that left with no letter, how could she not dress in black? Perhaps there was not as much space between the two as she believed. She felt the absence of love lost, but also the replete of the artists surrounding her. Her friends are getting high under the moonlight and her lover's waiting home in her white cloud of a bed. She often left her home, but she found home everywhere.

New York was uncertain. It terrified her, but she loved it. I don't think she'd take her dark-self or her light-self anywhere else. Where else could the two live side by side simultaneously? Taking herself for a midnight walk on the Brooklyn Bridge, running down to the waterfront in Williamsburg, charging her third-eye chakra in Soho. New York will feed every part of you.

The light stuck around like mango in her teeth. The secrets stayed inside like prayers on repeat. She woke to the Manhattan skyline each day, so bright in it's truth revealing glare. Then the evening came, the sun fell into a pink horizon, and the black filled the night sky where the demons stayed alive. The creative hour. She was two in one.

First Day of My Life

by Rachel Lynch in ,

first5first3first6first7first8first2first1This is the first day of my life. Swear I was born right in the doorway. I went out in the rain suddenly everything changed, they're spreading blankets on the beach.

Yours is the first face that I saw. I think I was blind before I met you. Now I don't know where I am, I don't know where I've been, but I know where I want to go.

And so I thought I'd let you know. That these things take forever. I especially am slow. But I realize that I need you, and I wondered if I could come home.

Remember the time you drove all night, just to meet me in the morning. I thought it was strange, you said everything changed. You felt as if you'd just woke up. And you said, "This is the first day of my life. I'm glad I didn't die before I met you. But now I don't care I could go anywhere with you and I'd probably be happy."

With these things there's no telling, we just have to wait and see. But I'd rather be working for a paycheck, then waiting to win the lottery.

One of the baddest Chicago bitches I've met, Nina spends time working/living in both Chi and New York City. She recently started dropping some clothing, so of course, she hooked it up with a shirt. I turned the soft tee into a dress and took some images on a disposable camera at Yotel on the West Side. Developed the images and passed them along to her, where she turned them into the magical visuals they now are.

Really hope you guys enjoy, lots more to come from the both of us.

The streets are alive with the energy of the fashion-obsessed youth who dance around till all hours of the morning. There is no way to describe this energy, you just have to be here. In all my photos and posts, (especially those about New York) I try to capture this energy and feeling. I want you to be right there with me, swallowed by New York. It's hard, because an outfit post will never show you what it actually feels like to be in the energy and madness that is NYFW. But luckily, I've become really good friends with the talented photographer, Jen Senn. I feel like she actually has somehow found the way to capture things just as they are, with taste and aesthetic. It was fun going from party to party with her and just not caring and letting lose. This post is not meant to be perfect, and it's not meant to sell you anything. Hopefully you can feel what it's like to be in New York with these photos, and they offer you a sneak peek into the side of fashion week you never get to see.

She rose and stood bright in the glimmering sun. She became a silent movie. Slow motion, the heart never forgets. The words fought to jump from her lips, the beaming syllables were practically ready to spill from her tongue. She danced to Elliot Smith and let it all slide under her skin. She kept it all in. If only she knew, that one day it would be too much. One day, it would pour from every essence of her being. Truths have a way of revealing themselves, one way or another.

Creative lovers sinking to the depths. Her baby lives in shades of pastels. Her heart is unbreakable. I bet she stood by him through it all, keep the goddess on your side. He didn't want her all the time, but it was worth it anyway. Thrown at the day so powerfully, it's romantic, it's slow.

He taps at her window, willing that she'll let him in. She writes him a story, she falls asleep in his arms. And he's gonna save her, call her baby. Lover be brave. Silver lining dancing in the sun, listening to cat power and laugher. Slow like honey. Brush strokes and blonde hair. Let us love for a while, the gift of disillusion. It's divine. Laying in the light, lost in the stories. Fragile. They feel the sweetness that they pour into everything. Lost in the only thing truly worth getting lost in. They can't help but smiling.

Clean shirts and fresh daisies. Cars and cigarettes. I talk loud about God. The sun also rises for those who romanticize life. Those who are willing to walk into the wilderness with no end goal in mind. Young and pretty. Parliaments on fire and moving to the music.
