paradise

by Rachel Lynch

Sometimes, I feel like we live in society that does not encourage us to make mistakes. We must have the perfect body, the perfect diet, and a lot of money. We're told not to be reckless, to settle down and work a full time job. We're suppose to stay on our phones, and away from a canvas or guitar.

My body still craves the insane - the spilled paint, chord progressions and creative conversations. The imperfect and the impossible - the moments that give rise to creativity. 2AM song writing sessions on my fire escape with a cigarette, after I haven't touched one in four months. Some could say she's fucking up, others could say she's doing what she needs to do to make art.
